This dog's personality is so much fun, he makes everybody who meets him smile!
Raz was the only surviving male from our "hard luck" litter in which an in utero infection eventually took the lives of 5 of my precious 10 pups. When you have to tube feed and give subcutaneous fluids to pups every 2 to 4 hours for 2 weeks straight, you tend to bond strongly to them. We didn't keep males back then, so this darling boy went to Bob Burnett to be his best friend and hunting buddy.
Raz has the kind of temperament everybody dreams of in a dog. He has never met a stranger, never barks an alarm, and always wags his tail! He is not dominant to any humans or other dogs. He gladly shares all possessions, including food, and lets my girls absolutely walk all over him. In sharp contrast to this "best buddy" mentality in the home, the dog is a dynamo in the field. A real hard charger, Raz flows over the cover despite being a larger dog. He doesn't make things look boring like some larger Springers can--he lights up on birds like crazy and looks fantastic while casting in between. Super, super flashy, he sports a great nose, soft mouth, and good marking ability, too.
How we wish we'd kept this boy to field trial!
We are very grateful to Bob for letting us borrow his buddy. We've wanted to breed some quality bitches to Raz for years, and now that he's back from Alaska, we have our chance. We love his pedigree, blending the two National Champions "Coach" and "Lefty" with the old Northwood / Northern Thunder pedigrees and our favorite Grouse Wing dogs.
Watch for Raz's upcoming litter out of Lighthouse Takes a Little Time.
